commercial design
Prior to 2021 my career had focused primarily on senior living; apartments, independent living, assisted living, memory care/dementia and nursing design. Through this experience I have amassed a wealth of knowledge on topics such as building code, building constructability, building science, acoustics and accessibility. The standards for such communities are very high w/ jurisdictional oversight extremely tight from State, County & City levels. Within a senior living community exists a multitude of architectural challenges and occupancies. There are typically parking facilities which can be above or below grade, enclosed or open structures. Amenities such as restaurants with expansive dining venues, bistros, cafes, theaters, pools, saunas, fitness as well as lounges, lobbies, and outdoor community gardens or patios.
This experience aligns well with many commercial typologies as well as with single family residential. Let my experience with accessibility, code, building science, universal design, sustainability, acoustics and constructability aid you on your next project.
